Who We Serve
Cancer Treatment Patients
Traveling to oncology centers like MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, or Mayo Clinic for treatment, clinical trials, or second opinions. We coordinate flights around chemotherapy schedules, radiation appointments, and surgical timelines.
Post-Surgical Recovery Travel
Patients returning home after major procedures who need a comfortable, low-stress flight environment. Private aviation eliminates the physical strain of commercial travel during recovery.
Elderly & Mobility-Limited Passengers
Older adults or individuals with mobility challenges traveling to specialist appointments. Direct flights to private terminals mean shorter walks, no jetbridges, and ground-level boarding on many aircraft.
Families & Caregivers
Spouses, parents, and caregivers who need to accompany a loved one to treatment. Private charter lets the entire support team fly together on a schedule that works for everyone.
Recurring Treatment Schedules
Patients making regular trips for dialysis, infusion therapy, clinical trials, or ongoing specialist care. We set up standing flight arrangements that remove the logistical burden from repeated travel.
Time-Sensitive Specialist Visits
When a top specialist has a narrow appointment window, commercial flight schedules can cost you the slot. Private charter gets you there on time — regardless of where the appointment is or when it's scheduled.

Why Families Choose Private Aviation for Medical Travel
When you or a loved one is facing a serious medical situation, the last thing you need is travel logistics adding to the stress. Commercial air travel — with its fixed schedules, crowded terminals, multi-leg itineraries, and unpredictable delays — is designed around efficiency for airlines, not comfort for passengers dealing with health challenges.
Private jet medical travel removes those obstacles entirely. It puts the patient's needs at the center of every decision, from departure time to aircraft selection to the terminal you walk through.
- 01
Avoiding Crowded Terminals and Health Risks
For immunocompromised patients — those undergoing chemotherapy, recovering from organ transplants, or managing autoimmune conditions — exposure to crowded airport terminals and recirculated cabin air on commercial flights carries real risk. Private aviation eliminates that exposure. You board from an FBO (fixed-base operator), a private terminal typically used by a handful of passengers at any given time. There are no security lines, no gate areas, and no shared jetbridges.
- 02
Scheduling Around Treatment, Not Around Airlines
Cancer treatment schedules don't align with airline timetables. A specialist appointment may open up on 48 hours' notice. Chemotherapy infusions may run late, pushing your departure window. A post-operative follow-up might land on a day with no convenient commercial options. Private charter gives you the flexibility to depart when you're ready — not when the airline says you can.
- 03
Reducing Physical Strain During Recovery
Post-surgical patients, elderly travelers, and anyone dealing with pain or limited mobility face a gauntlet of physical challenges on commercial flights: long walks through terminals, overhead bin wrestling, cramped seating, and turbulent layover sprints between gates. Private aviation shortens the travel chain dramatically. Many FBOs offer ground-level boarding — you walk directly from car to aircraft without stairs, elevators, or long terminal corridors.
- 04
Privacy During Vulnerable Moments
Medical travel often coincides with some of the most difficult moments in a person's life. The privacy of a private aircraft means you can rest, have quiet conversations with family, or simply decompress without strangers nearby. There is no need to manage emotions in a crowded cabin or explain visible medical devices to seat neighbors.
- 05
Getting Family There — Together
When a parent, spouse, or child is undergoing treatment at a distant medical center, the family's presence matters. Commercial travel for a group of 3-5 people quickly becomes expensive, logistically complex, and exhausting to coordinate. A single private charter seats the entire family together, on one schedule, with one point of coordination. Everyone arrives at the same time, rested and ready to focus on what matters.
- 06
Door-to-Door Time That Actually Matters
Consider the real travel timeline for a commercial flight from Los Angeles to Rochester, Minnesota (home of Mayo Clinic): drive to LAX, arrive 90 minutes early, clear security, fly to Minneapolis, connect to a regional flight or drive 90 minutes south to Rochester. That's an 8-10 hour door-to-door journey on a good day. A private flight from Van Nuys (VNY) to Rochester International (RST) takes roughly 3.5 hours in the air, with a total door-to-door time under 5 hours. For a patient who is managing fatigue, pain, or anxiety, those saved hours are not a luxury — they are a necessity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an air ambulance or medevac service?
No. TruNorth Jets provides non-emergency private jet charter for medical-related travel. We do not operate FAA-certified air ambulance flights or carry onboard medical crews or equipment. Our service is designed for patients who are medically stable and traveling to or from medical appointments, treatment centers, or specialist consultations.
Can you accommodate wheelchair passengers or those with limited mobility?
Yes. Many of the aircraft in our network offer ground-level boarding or low-step entry, which eliminates the need for jetbridges, stairs, or terminal walking. We work with you to select an aircraft that matches the passenger's mobility needs and can arrange ground transportation that connects directly to the FBO ramp.
How far in advance should I book a medical travel flight?
We can typically arrange flights within 24-48 hours for urgent situations. For recurring treatment schedules or planned specialist visits, booking 5-7 days in advance gives us the widest selection of aircraft and the best pricing. We also offer standing arrangements for patients making regular trips.
Is private jet medical travel covered by insurance?
In most cases, private jet charter is not covered by standard health insurance plans. However, some supplemental travel insurance policies and certain employer or executive benefits packages may include provisions for medical transportation. We recommend consulting your insurance provider or benefits coordinator. TruNorth Jets can provide detailed invoices and flight documentation if needed for reimbursement submissions.
Can family members fly with the patient?
Absolutely. One of the primary advantages of private medical travel is the ability to bring family and caregivers along. Whether it's one companion or a full family, the aircraft is yours — there are no seat restrictions beyond the plane's capacity.
Can a doctor, nurse or caregiver travel with the patient?
Yes. A personal physician, nurse or caregiver can fly with the patient as a passenger; their seat counts toward the aircraft's capacity like any other guest. Because we arrange non-emergency charter rather than air ambulance flights, the aircraft won't carry medical equipment or a medical crew. If the patient needs a portable oxygen concentrator or another personal medical device, tell us when you book so the operator can approve it in advance.
Is private jet travel a good option for seniors with medical needs?
Often, yes, for seniors who are medically stable enough to fly. Private terminals mean a short walk from the car to the aircraft, with no security lines, long concourses or gate changes, and many aircraft offer low-step boarding. A caregiver and family can sit alongside the whole way. Check with the passenger's doctor before booking, especially after recent surgery or with heart or lung conditions, and we'll plan the trip around their advice.
What airports do you fly into near major hospitals?
We select the closest FBO (private terminal) to your specific hospital or clinic. For example, Mayo Clinic patients fly into Rochester International (RST), MD Anderson patients use Hobby Airport (HOU) or Sugar Land (SGR), and Memorial Sloan Kettering patients land at Teterboro (TEB) — just 20 minutes from Manhattan. We handle the FBO selection based on your destination.
What types of aircraft are available for medical travel?
Aircraft selection depends on distance, passenger count, and comfort requirements. For shorter trips (under 3 hours), turboprops like the King Air 350 or Pilatus PC-12 offer a quiet, comfortable cabin at a competitive price. For longer flights or when speed is a priority, light jets (Citation CJ3, Phenom 300) and midsize jets (Citation Latitude, Hawker 800XP) provide larger cabins and faster cruise speeds. We recommend the right aircraft for each specific trip.
Can you arrange ground transportation to the hospital?
Yes. We can coordinate ground transportation between the FBO and your medical facility, hotel, or other destination. This is particularly valuable for patients arriving in unfamiliar cities. The goal is a seamless door-to-door experience with as few logistical handoffs as possible.
Do you handle last-minute schedule changes?
Medical situations are inherently unpredictable, and we build that understanding into every booking. If a treatment runs late, an appointment gets moved, or a discharge happens earlier than expected, our team works to adjust the flight plan accordingly. Flexibility is one of the core reasons families choose private charter for medical travel.
How does pricing work for medical travel charters?
Charter pricing is based on the aircraft type, flight distance, and scheduling. We provide transparent, all-inclusive quotes with no hidden fees. For patients making recurring trips, we can offer structured pricing arrangements that provide cost predictability over the course of treatment.
